Advisory for Indian Community in Bulgaria

There have been some recent incidents of attacks/assaults on Indians in different parts of Sofia by unidentified groups of unruly teenagers. The Embassy of India in Sofia has strongly taken up the issue of safety and security of Indians in Bulgaria with the concerned Bulgarian authorities. They have promised to take action against such groups and to adopt necessary measures to improve the security of Indians. Some preliminary steps seem to have already been initiated in improving the security conditions in Sofia.

Consequently, Indian Community in Bulgaria is strongly advised to take adequate precautions themselves for their personal security, particularly during all their outdoor movements including movements at crowded public places and in public transport during evening hours. There can be no substitute for remaining vigilant and exercising due caution and prudence in one's movements.
